Action Ministries, a non-profit food pantry next to Johnny's Toys, has a new logo.
Instead of the Christian symbol of a fish with a cross through it, the all-volunteer agency now uses a logo featuring that symbol transposed over a bag of groceries. It's now appearing on the agency's letterhead and faxes.
"We're an interfaith non-profit, and we wanted something unique that would also remind people of what we do," said long-time volunteer Billie McDaniel of Taylor Mill. "If you looked at our old logo, you saw that fish, but did you think groceries?"
For 15 years, Action Ministries has provided food and household grocery items to hundreds of southern Kenton County families and 70 other area food pantries. During the past month, the agency that's housed in an 8,000-square-foot warehouse served more than 700 families, including an increasing number from Covington, said Executive Director Tom Dorman.
